What the market looks like
AI-first Chief Product Officer roles have emerged as a distinct flavor of CPO mandate — typically at Series B through pre-IPO technology companies where the product category itself is being reshaped by generative AI. Almost all the postings we see are concentrated in the Bay Area, New York, Boston, and Seattle. These are not traditional CPO roles and require distinct instincts: pricing, packaging, and delivery models all shift when AI is at the core. Compensation is packaged on a confidential total-comp basis with significant equity upside.
