What the market looks like

We've tracked 100+ senior-level business transformation postings across Canada in the last six months, with strong concentrations in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Financial services, professional services, and technology firms dominate hiring, though healthcare, manufacturing, and energy sectors are active too. Median compensation for directors in this cohort lands around $170,000, with top-of-range roles reaching $210,000. The strongest candidates in this space combine deep operational experience with genuine fluency in organizational change—they've led multi-year transformations, built scaled teams, and know how to translate business strategy into executable roadmaps without getting lost in consulting jargon.

Job responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design and delivery of enterprise transformation programs, partnering with C-suite to set vision and align stakeholders across functions

  • Lead cross-functional teams through change—managing capability building, process redesign, technology adoption, and culture shifts

  • Build and manage the business transformation function: hire and mentor senior transformation leaders, establish methodologies, and scale impact across the organization

  • Drive data-informed decision-making by establishing KPIs, tracking program progress, and communicating results to executive leadership and the board

  • Integrate emerging technologies—especially AI and automation—into transformation roadmaps, identifying high-impact use cases and managing adoption risk

  • Own stakeholder management and communication strategy; translate complex transformations into clear narratives for employees, clients, and investors

  • Partner with external advisors, vendors, and technology partners to accelerate delivery and reduce execution risk

Candidate requirements

  • 12+ years in business transformation, organizational change, operational improvement, or strategy roles; at least 5 years leading transformation at scale (teams of 5+, enterprise scope)

  • Proven track record shipping multi-year transformation programs end-to-end—from strategy through adoption and value realization

  • Experience building and scaling transformation or continuous improvement functions, including hiring and developing senior talent

  • Strong working knowledge of how to evaluate, pilot, and integrate new technologies (AI, automation, data platforms) into business processes

  • Ability to influence and align senior leadership and boards; comfort presenting strategy and progress to C-suite and investor audiences

  • Onsite presence in Toronto required; willing to travel occasionally for stakeholder engagement
