Job responsibilities
Own the innovation strategy and roadmap, defining which new technologies, products, or business models the organization should pursue and how to allocate resources against them
Build and lead a team of innovation managers, strategists, or researchers, setting direction, mentoring talent, and creating a culture of structured experimentation
Partner with C-suite and business unit leaders to translate market opportunities and emerging tech trends into concrete initiatives and business cases
Design and run structured processes for idea evaluation, prototyping, and pilot validation—ensuring the organization learns fast and kills failed bets decisively
Integrate innovation work with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to move validated concepts from lab to revenue impact
Track and report on innovation KPIs—pipeline health, time-to-pilot, pilot success rates, and revenue or cost impact—to demonstrate business value
Represent the organization externally: speak at industry forums, build relationships with startups or technology partners, and stay current on competitive and adjacent-market moves
Candidate requirements
10+ years of experience in innovation, product development, strategy, or business transformation, with at least 3+ years in a director-level role or equivalent scope
Proven track record launching new products, business lines, or capabilities—ideally ones that moved from concept to material revenue or cost impact
Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and lead cross-functional teams and influence leaders at the C-suite level
Comfort translating between technical possibility and business value; experience working closely with engineering, product, and data teams is essential
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to simplify complexity and tell a compelling story to both internal executives and external audiences
Experience designing and running structured innovation processes (stage-gate, design thinking, lean startup, or similar) and measuring outcomes against clear metrics
