What the market looks like

Over the last six months, we've tracked 2,900+ senior-level business transformation postings across North America, concentrated in professional services, technology, and financial services hubs like New York, San Francisco, and the broader Texas corridor. Median compensation for this cohort sits around $200,000, with top-quartile packages reaching $400,000+. The strongest candidates in this space bring deep experience reshaping operating models and workflows — they've led multi-year transformations, built cross-functional alignment at scale, and learned to navigate the politics of large-scale change. They combine strategic vision with hands-on program delivery and the communication chops to move skeptical stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for business transformation initiatives across the organization, translating competitive pressures and emerging opportunities into executable change programs

  • Lead cross-functional teams through process redesign, operating model change, and digital capability buildout — balancing ambition with realistic timelines and resource constraints

  • Build and maintain alignment with C-suite and board stakeholders, translating complex change initiatives into clear business cases and progress narratives

  • Drive adoption and change management at scale, partnering with HR, communications, and business unit leaders to embed new ways of working

  • Oversee portfolio of transformation programs, manage dependencies, and reallocate resources as market conditions and priorities shift

  • Identify and mentor emerging transformation talent within the organization; build institutional capability in change leadership

  • Measure and communicate impact — establishing metrics around efficiency gains, revenue uplift, and risk reduction tied to transformation work

Candidate requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive business transformation, organizational change, or operations leadership experience, with a track record of leading multi-year, mission-critical transformation programs to completion

  • Demonstrated expertise in operating model redesign, process optimization, and large-scale organizational change — not just consulting advice, but hands-on ownership of outcomes

  • Proven ability to build credibility and influence across C-suite and board environments; comfort presenting complex transformation concepts to non-technical and technical audiences alike

  • Strong program and portfolio management discipline — experience with resource planning, stakeholder mapping, risk management, and change acceleration methodologies

  • Track record of translating strategy into measurable business outcomes (cost reduction, revenue acceleration, risk mitigation); experience with metrics design and performance reporting

  • Comfort with emerging technology adoption (cloud, automation, AI/ML) as a lever for transformation, with the willingness to learn domain-specific nuances alongside business teams
